Let's make this the final word for the day.

Courtesy of CBS News:

A Senate attempt to move forward with a short-term spending bill vote failed Friday night, sending the government into a shutdown on the one-year anniversary of President Trump's inauguration.

Tomorrow's Trump tweets should be epic.

Rumor is that the Liar in Chief is having an affair with Nikki Haley. (As much as I disagree with her on a lot of issues, I thought that she'd be smarter than to get tangled in the Trump "web of women". Also, "Ick"!!)

Party before the constituents that they “represent.”

      This is on Democrats.

They are the party of illegals over citizens. THAT is party over their own country and citizens.

@4:41 am, It starts at the top. You can lick Trump's ass all you want, but that won't change his incompetency. Your emperor has no clothes, just ask his porn star affairs tramps. Hope Hicks is substituting for Melania while Trump is 'stuck' in the Capitol.

The funding bill was due in September.GOP failed. The Democrats made a deal with Trump back then, and he flip flopped.Last week he had a televised meeting where he stated he would sign what they brought him.Democrats and republicans negotiated a deal and brought it to him,he now had GOP hard liners with him,and he flip flopped.GOP didn't even have all of their own members voting for the bill last night.Go away little deplorable,Daddy Trump wants to be spanked with the Constitution this time.

Little donnie and the republicans are going to lie and say this was all the Democrats fault.
The democrats need to repeat over and over the republicans control congress and the white house, this is all their doing.

Does this mean the state if the union is cancelled? Is traitor trump the first president to give the state of the union while his own party has shut down the government?

2:16, it would take a lot more than the utter stupidity of those "in charge" to stop th State of the Union.

Personally, I expect the IIC (Idiot In Chief) to attempt to use it as a way of blaming every one of the failures we've seen on the Democrats and think we may just see the first ever mass walkout of a State of the Union Address.

I hope not, but believe he would deserve it.

    3. I’m sure he’s rewriting the speech to be all blame on the Democrats and all praise of his big crowds, big electoral college win and big hands. Plus bragging on so much he got done but all about the Tax Scam as that is the ONLY thing he’s accomplished. He’ll continue to brag about that even after all of the Deplorables realize they’ve been screwed.

History will not be kind to this shithole. It’s already coming back to bite.

The moron in the white house tweeted the democrats shut the gov down to diminish his tax cut bill, does he understand this doesn't stop the tax scam bill? Or is this just another lie for his 18% base?

It is another lie that portrays Trump as a victim because the Democrats stole attention from Trump’s tax cuts. I can imagine a rousing welcome at the Maralago six figure fund raiser celebrating tax cuts for the wealthy.

What we know with certainty that there are major issues for negotiation to be resolved that have nothing to do with the tax cuts that passed.

I'm not sure the 21st century Republicans have any interest in keeping the government in operation. The goal of conservative Republicans, ever since Grover Norquist came on the scene decades ago and demanded allegiance to himself, has been to "drown the [federal] government in a bathtub." Modern-day Republicans certainly do not care about children's health (CHIP) or about adults who came to the country illegally with their parents long ago (DACA) despite how much they are contributing to our society. Modern-day Republicans only care about the richest (and whitest) among us. They got their tax deal; why should they care about anything else?

BIngo, Beaglemom. It’s the culmination of the Republican dream. Plus they get to screw the Dreamers, kids who have spent their whole lives in the US but happen to be brown-skinned people from “ shitholes”. Win all around for Republicans.

Best writing from Amanda Terkel at Huffpo:

In his book The Art of the Deal, Trump boasts, “Deals are my art form. Other people paint beautifully on canvas or write wonderful poetry. I like making deals, preferably big deals. That’s how I get my kicks.”

But the first year of his presidency has exposed the hollowness of that rhetoric, showing it takes more than simply talking big to run the government.

Perhaps instead, Trump’s tweet from January 2013 held more insight about his governance: “Just shows that you can have all the cards and lose if you don’t know what you’re doing.”

Looks like the orange shitgibbon just spilled all his paints on the floor.

So, he said years ago that a government shutdown falls directly into the president's shoulders, yet he retires to his bedroom lock-up to eat cheeseburgers and watch Faux for talking points.

    What a leader.

That is my favorite picture of Hillary and Obama ever! Looks like they are really enjoying themselves. That would never happen today between Trump and his secretary of anything, mainly because Trump has no sense of humor.
