GOP Senate hopeful Dan Sullivan skips candidate forum in Alaska in exchange for attending fundraiser in his native Ohio.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

The day after Alaska Senate nominee Dan Sullivan (R) was criticized by Democratic Sen. Mark Begich's campaign for missing a candidate forum, he was spotted raising money in Cleveland, Ohio. Sullivan was raised in the Cleveland area and has faced Democratic attacks questioning his Alaskan credentials.

Sullivan was spotted at The Union Club in Cleveland on Monday morning by American Bridge 21st Century, a Democratic opposition research firm. American Bridge shared video of Sullivan at the event with The Washington Post. Sullivan's campaign confirmed that he was there to raise money for his campaign.

So first Sullivan's parents contribute $300,000 to American Crossroads, obviously so that it can be given to their son, and then he skips town to avoid a candidate forum in Alaska in order to go to back to Ohio in search of MORE money for his campaign, to go along with the multiple millions already being spent on his behalf by outside interests such as Karl Rove and the Koch brothers.

Here's my question.

Why can't Sullivan find money to fund his campaign right here in Alaska?

I'll tell you why, because he is not one of us.

He is a fucking outsider, and he needs money from other outsiders in order to win our Senate seat.

Why anyone in Alaska would vote for this jerk is beyond me! He truly is a carpetbagger and has zero respect or knowledge of Alaskans!

Vote for Senator Mark Begich who has seniority in the U.S. Congress! Plus, he is a TRUE Alaskan and has worked diligently for Alaskans for many years!

I seriously doubt Sullivan will ask for Palin's endorsement. He knows it would be the kiss of death and he also knows she has little favorability left in Alaska.

He got Lisa Murkowski's endorsement and that is going to come back and haunt her when she runs for reelection again. She's not that well liked in Alaska either!

She won't, she know that would be the ki$$ of death in AK but the kocks are funding him and spreading LIES.
Gryphen you should contact the DCC and tell them to make a ad telling he is a CarpetBAGGER KOCKsucking OUTSIDER!!!!And friends of Sarah Also, too!

Tons of commercials have been aired and many articles written regarding Sullivan's "outsider" status,
but most of the republicans up here don't care because they can't stand Begich.

Why is Sullivan ahead in the AK polls????? Insane!

I donated to Begich; I don't live in AK. So I hope I'm making up for a tiny bit of the difference in Sullivan's Ohio fundraising.

      Alaska is so corrupt!

Now Alaska Legislators are going to be asked to sign a 'secrecy pledge' over the proposed gas line that is a possibility for Alaska!

Can you friggin' believe that? It's going to be required by Governor Parnell (who is in the pockets of the oil companies) and the oil companies!

They (gov and oil) believe the information should be kept out of the public eye! They fear disclosing commercially sensitive contracts and agreements could lead to 'lower prices' for the state's natural gas!

Alaska Legislators better think about this hard and long before signing the confidentiality agreements! It will come back to bite them!

4:54 PM This information just came out today via the Anchorage newspaper - front page.

So far, I've not heard anything from Legislators or citizens of Alaska. The Alaska Legislature doesn't go back into session until January, 2015.

The bigger issue, bigger than your carpet bagger teabagger fund raising out of state is that he refused, flat out refused, to make himself available for questions your Alaskan voters would like to hear answers to. Almost like the people of Alaska will not have a true voice through him. That's all I've got to say.

So true. Its obvious he gave a big FU to the people. Isn't HE the same Dan sullivan who was mayor of Anchorage? Didn't he has a restaurant and some issues? If he WAS the Sullivan who was mayor or IS mayor of Anchorage, well look at how the Anchorage PD is covering for the Palin brawl!!! We should all EMAIL them and ASK when is the REPORT coming out???
Well all emailed to thwart Palin's pick...WAR getting AG, Remember?
Yes plenty of Outsiders voiced their opinion and how he treated women.
Didn't Danny Boi have a woman problem at the restaurant? Some kind of "issue" as I recall.
If its him the Alaskans should look at how fucked up Anchorage is and how corrupt the PD is and how Palinized it is! That would be enough to make ME choose someone Different as well as him being a OUTsider!

Dan Sullivan - Mayor of Anchorage who is running on the ticket w/Parnell who is up for reelection. Sullivan is going for Treadwell's position, which is second in command w/little job responsibility.

Have to say that you don't even hear Mayor Sullivan's name as beng in the race because neither he or Parnell are actually campaigning for the positions. Suspect they think they are going to win w/zero effort!

Alaskans - vote for the Unity Team which is a much better choice than Parnell and Sullivan!

Take a deep breath, 5:18, 4:10, 4:09....you're frantic. You like to recommend that Gryphen or the rest of us do things - send letters or emails - but you don't take the time to do a little if your own work. I believe we agree on much of what you say, but you lose credibility when you're so wrong about " Dans," yet write as if you're a local upset about an outsider. Given that, both Dans are pretty horrible and I hope we defeat them both (one running for Senate, the other for Lt. Governor).

The polls showing Sullivan ahead of Senator Begich are probably ones done by those supported by Republicans OR the Koch Brothers! I know I've not gotten a call from them because they know how I'm registered in Alaska!

Don't pay attention to them Alaskans! Just get the vote out that favors Senator Mark Begich, who is the 'real' Alaskan! Watch Sullivan lose and head back to either Ohio or Washington D.C. where he has his million dollar home! The guy will not stay in Alaska when he loses!!! Betcha!!!

Remember the Republicans swearing by their polls favoring Mitt Romney - indicating he was going to win in a landslide against President Obama? They were oh so wrong!!!!

It can happen again and I'll bet it does. Vote to reelect Senator Mark Begich!

Running off to his home state and missing a candidates forum should be the death knell of a campaign and would make a hell of an anti-Sullivan tv ad.

This item about Sullivan needs to be spread throughout Alaska! If he doesn't show up to debate and confront questions from Alaska - screw him and don't vote for him!

He (Sullivan) sounds like a horrid prospect for a senator in the U.S. Congress! But, a typical Republican who doesn't work!!!

Begich also had fundraisers outside but won't say where and says it's "irrelevant". They both are beholden to so many outside interests and outside money that I agree with Mark, it's irrelevant where either of them go to earn campaign funds, however I do find it laudable that at least Mark Begich shows up for debates here in our state, which Dan Sullivan doesn't.

Since the Citizen's v. United ruling money can come, and does come from anywhere in amounts unprecedented. I don't fault any candidate for going for the cash, however I do appreciate the candidate that actually shows up for interaction with the constituents.

8:50 And, Senator Begich is the true Alaskan - born and raised and representing Alaskans for many years.

Don't forget too, that he now has seniority in the U.S. Congress which is very important to and for Alaskans.

Lisa Murkowski will get hers for endorsing Sullivan when she comes up for reelection. She's isn't well liked in Alaska!

Tell me again why Attorney General Sullivan allowed Todd Pallin to ignore legitimate subpoenas for the Troopergate investigation.

No state is pure, all politicians play one side against the other, but the audacity of Alaskan corruption is just breathtaking, for this observer from the East Coast. How does a state with such a small population end up with so many shady characters in power? Is there no press? Is there no political opposition? Do you burn down churches and cause plane crashes when things don't go your way? How deeply venal can you be?
No offense to the majority of Alaskans, who seem powerless to create a system that's not immoral and meretricious.

Wrong Attorney General. That was Talis Colberg that did this.

And, Tallis Colberg was a friend of Sarah's if I remember correctly! Didn't she appoint him?

But Sullivan always had the power to pursue the case?

      Delete
    4. Anonymous8:52 PM

Sarah did appoint Talis and he ended up quitting his position over his own internal struggle with the Troopergate affair. Then Sarah tried to nominate Wayne Anthony Ross (WAR) and was shot down so then she nominated Sullivan.

      Delete
    5. Anonymous10:28 AM

When she nominated WAR, that REALLY got Alaskans going because he was anti women and had said some pretty nasty stuff. The Alaska Legislature voted the nomination down - which was a result of Alaskans making themselves heard!

We need to now do the same thing w/Sullivan (carpetbagger) since he's a proven liar (his being one is making national news!).

Vote for Senator Mark Begich, who is the true Alaskan! Give Sullivan a ticket out of town, because I doubt he'll stay in Alaska when he loses.

AH, OH! Dan Sullivan, the Republican challenger for U.S. Senate in Alaska, was a Maryland resident for tax purposes from 2006 to 2008, according to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation, even though he told the Federal Election Commission he had been a resident of Alaska for the past 17 years - disqualifying him from running for office. hehe

I sure hope Alaskans decide to reject this blatant carpetbagger and send him back to Ohio with his tail between his legs. Who will this outsider represent in the Senate other than the Koch Brothers?
